A Photo-shoot in The City of Kings

I was in Bulawayo last week running a workshop and took some time out to do a photo shoot with some amazingly awesome young Bulawayo talent and my business partner in Inonzi Memory,  Fungai Tichawangana. It was a great day and I have to tell you that Nkanyeziyethu Malunga is naturally talented as a model, a real pleasure to photograph! This is a sneak peak! The collection of images is coming soon, keep an eye on www.inonzi.co.zw

INONZI MEMORY: Inonzi Playtime @ HIFA 2012

HIFA 2012 ' A show of Spirit occurred in May this year and it was quite literally seven days of action packed artistic expression of every kind!  Zimbo Jam was the official online media partner for HIFA and as Inonzi Memory is the photographic content supplier for www.zimbojam.com and defzee.com we were out there in full force capturing all the happenings of the festival. Over the next few weeks as a attempt to go through and catalogue the images from the the festival I will be sharing some with you here so keep a look out for all sorts of fun fair, beautiful artistic expression and the people of Harare having a good time interpreted through my lens!

While at HIFA my partner and I managed to find time to play too!

Me taking a picture of myself and Fungai Tichawagana my partner as we looked at some creatively designed mirrors at the craft market at HIFA.

Battle of the photographer; who will take a better pic of us in the mirror! Lol!
This mirror is surrounded by recycled paper rolled up into tubes, a really interesting way to frame the mirror we thought.

Introducing Inonzi Memory

 Hello folks!
It has been an absolute age since I last posted and I am pleased to report that its with good reason! Many of you are familiar with the E:thos brand which is my 'artistic name' by which I have been taking under while taking pictures since I started off on this journey o discovery that is becoming a 'photographer proper'.

Since moving to Southern Africa I have spent a lot of time building the brand locally on the ground to match the awesome support and following it has online so 2011 was all about building (networking and establishing links).  In this journey I met an awesome photographer whose brand name is fungaifoto and we clicked instantly! We have complementing styles so we thought that we should band together and out of our union Inonzi Memory was born.

Inonzi is a word from the Shona language of a Zimbabwean tribe by the same name. Inonzi means 'it is called' and so we named our combined effort 'Its called memory' because photography's primary purpose we believe is to record events in a way that will tell stories that emulate or re-create memories that individuals / groups / families hold dear to their hearts - hence the name INONZI MEMORY.

So this is what has been keeping me ever so busy and thats why you have not heard much from me on Passion in the Moments however now that Inonzi Memory is in full swing I will be dropping in more and more until normality is restored!

Please do go over to Inonzi's online spaces and support it as it is an amazing initiative giving you all you love about Passion in the Moments and so much more from the diversity and growing number of other African / African based artists.

Enjoy!

Land Rover & Zimbabwe have one thing in common: They never quit!

On a recent visit to Mutoko in Zimbabwe I came across this man and his beloved Land Rover. His car is at best slightly younger than Zimbabwe itself and as time has passed through wear and tear it has undergone various modifications to keep it running and reliable on its owners farm. There are no words that can describe the above mentioned modifications than the images themselves. Some would call them sheer genius when considering the alternative large price tag of a new land rover in Zimbabwe's adverse economic climate ; others however (like myself) will be shocked and outraged at the huge health and safety risks the modifications pose. Either way no one can deny that he has made the best out of an otherwise dire situation.

The man and  his pride and joy!

Modified fuel pump

Wear and tear as time has gone by

Starter motor modified (If you are always losing your keys with this car no need for a key!)
To be fair all in all the car is in pretty good shape! I think Land Rover should find this man  and
shake his hand for proving that their cars are nothing short of resilient regardless of age or owner!
